Here's how it works. What you'll need:

DataConnect service plan of $60 per month or higher
Wi-Fi enabled laptop running Windows Vista, XP, or 2000
AT&T Communication Manager (ACM) v6.8 or higher, which is free with your LaptopConnect device and can be downloaded from att.com/communicationmanager
LaptopConnect card or USB device

Eligible AT&T wireless data plan, AT&T Communication Manager (v6.8 or higher), and compatible Wi-Fi (802.11x) enabled laptop with Windows Vista®, XP, or 2000 operating system is required for AT&T Basic Wi-Fi access.
